Heavier weight means extra fuel. Equals less profit. Maybe when quoting a rate, tell them it will be an extra dollar a pound for anything over what they tell you.

It depends on what you are doing. I am the same as you. I load according to the RC. I know short haul drivers who load legal and never worry about excessive weight.
