As someone who has had 4 sticks of DDR4 for the past 4 years and have tested 2 vs 4 I can confirm that is don’t make much difference.. if at all, If you want 16gb ram 2 8gb sticks is better…

What do you mean all motherboards allow you to have up to 4 sticks of ram? My motherboard as 8 ram slots. 😅

This is called dual channel mode. RAM operating in dual channel is faster than either a single stick or even a pair that aren't in dual channel mode. the reason a lot of manufacturers colour-code the slots is to make it more obvious which slots will work on dual channel. ofc using all 4 guarantees you won't get it wrong but you also have to have identical sticks to utilise this feature.

it's single channel vs dual channel. 2 and 4 are for dual channel which is the most common ram you will buy if you don't know what your doing.
