Oct 10th- Today was a clinic visit to check Lola’s blood count and see where she’s at with her new oral chemo and dosage. They started her off at 100% following the COG (Children’s Oncology Group)protocol knowing that she was tested with a gene that’s “sensitive” to this particular chemo (6MP.) Last time we were on this chemo, 7 months ago, it led us in a 3 week hospital stay with 0 immunity. Since she isn’t highly sensitive to it, they wanted to start her at 100% to see how her body tolerates it considering the last time she had this chemo it was given along with a lot of other chemos weekly. That may have been the reason for the 3 week stay. We are praying this time that her body will absorb this chemo correctly and not tank to 0 by the end of this month. We really want to join my grandpa’s celebration of life in November. 🤞🏼🥹 I was so proud of Lola during her visit. She wasn’t happy at first because she wanted daddy and Klaira too, but she perked up quickly afterwards. She’s so bright and knows how to tell me how she’s feeling. During the drive there she mentioned how she felt like she needed to throw up. I gave her a bag and she held it to her face the whole time. I think she just felt nauseous because it was an early appointment and she didn’t have anything in her stomach yet. She ultimately just needed to poop lol, so the nausea subsided after that quick toilet visit. She was so brave during the port access. She cried a few tears and then crawled into my lap, raised her chin up, and took it like a champ! It’s never easy, but she’s learned to cope with it. It’s bittersweet that my brave baby girl has had to find the strength within herself to endure all of this at such a young tender age. It’s really UNFAIR! Her ANC was high @ 3600, most likely due to the steroids she was on the previous week. That could lead to a false reading. We won’t know her exact reading and how her body is really handling it yet; give and take a full month. Then the doctors will taper down or increase the dosage as needed.
