In AB I’ve experienced A lot of doctors won’t do referrals to the free one because the wait is 3-5 years, one of my friends wanting assessments has been told 7.. 💔😭

I was diagnosed by CAMH this past September, 2-3 year wait (the actual waitlist was 2 years but there were some issues on the end of my now-ex family Dr)

OHIP should really be covering psych assessments through private practice psychologists…the fact that CAMH and sick kids is like the only free assessment service in Toronto is ridiculous

The wait times are wild but the assessment process is often depicted as impossible and super scary so I do wanna say that CAMH’s autism assessment was v positive!

I'm in NS & we don't have gov covered assessments for adults. I asked my doc in 2022 & he said he put me on a waitlist, but 0 updates. No idea what "waitlist" I'm on. Private assessment is $5000+ :/

Hey! I have been on the waitlist but what I recomend if you have any benafits providers Sageview in Mississauga with dr Wilson! He did mine and the waitlist was pretty short

Also make sure you have a parent who can come with you to the appointment!! They won’t diagnose you otherwise

Have you looked into embrace autism? It’s definitely a process and not cheap but much cheaper than some I’ve seen. I’m on step two and waiting 12-16 more weeks for my interview, then another 4-6 weeks for the report.

Where the hell do they do free assessments in Ontario? I live in Owensound and I have asked for referrals and there is nowhere around me that apparently provides that without charging almost $3000.
