It makes sense that everyone knows everyone, but the fact that Haymitch never mentions any of these connections to katniss makes it seems like it wasn’t developed in advance. Makes it weaker imo

to me, it seemed lazy that in a town of 8k his friends just happen to be katniss' parents and his gf is covey. I just wish there were more new characters instead of Easter eggs to the other books

I think for me it’s giving Fanfiction in the way where the focus is on those connections rather than the unique world building done in Ballad and the trilogy. It’s a connecting book and it benefits
