@drtaraswart: Your brain is always rewiring itself. The question is—are you in control of the process? Neuroplasticity is your brain’s built-in ability to adapt and change at any point in life. The catch is that this process thrives on repetition. Which means that with some intentionality it can fuel incredible transformation or, if left unchecked, it can deepen unwanted habits and behaviours. While this might sound a little ominous, all it really takes to turn the tide is awareness of how your brain works, self-reflection, and a commitment to small, repeated steps toward positive change. Master these, and you’ll start using this process to your advantage instead of letting it work against you. A crucial step is having awareness of how external stimuli impact your mood and behaviour—and limiting anything that negatively affects you. Which is why I, and many other neuroscientists I know personally, do not watch the news. The news is inherently negative. Whether you realise it or not, consuming it influences your thoughts, emotions, and actions. I’m not saying don’t stay informed—I’m saying take control of how and when you consume the information. #news #neuroscience #neuroplasticity

I think she makes a very good point about curating your social media feed, that’s an essential skill. “Don’t watch the news at all stay informed by other methods” is way to vague for me for me to trust it
