Stop y’all😭 I was in the GATE program from 1989 to 1999 and it was just Special Ed for intellectually advanced kids with neurodivergence and anxiety. It was not some major conspiracy.

Present and accounted for. I was in the gifted program my whole life. I never broke a bone until my 30s. We did code breaking and a ton of riddles. I clearly remember figuring out what time on a digital clock would use the most lights using all the lights everything would be 88:88 obviously not a time so 10:08 but in military 20:08 I was the firsts to answer and gave both answers which is why I still remember. My mom was having my IQ tested from the time I was 2.

I was in the GATE program from 3rd-7th grade. they said it was for exceptionally smart students, but looking back as an adult, it was Special Ed for kids with ADHD/autism 😅

I was in the GATE program for 6 years and it had nothing to do with eye color or broken bones. It was simply an elevated curriculum. Goodness!!!

So much of my childhood around schooling is a blur. I can speed read, I can read backwards, inverted, upside down, a combination of numbers, letters. I remember the pink pills, the headphones in the windowless room

i hate to break it to you guys but all kids in elementary/middle school have to do the hearing/seeing/scoliosis tests! i was also in a gifted/GATE program but those medical tests are incredibly normal

The GATE program was held in schools during school hours - elementary only. You were taken to a room with no windows. There would be vision tests with beeping sounds.

I was in GATE from 2nd-8th grade, then proceeded to attend an over-achiever high school. Aside from all of the tests mentioned here I remember a special test in 7th grade deciphering complex patterns.
