I’ve noticed that younger generations (generally speaking, not all are like this) don’t even look things up anymore. If I don’t know something my first instinct is to Google it

Twitter is truly such a loss bc it used to be the largest link sharing place on the internet

Exactly. The link issue is not a bug, it's a feature.

I think one of the only plattforms that are pro intellectualism is reddit. There are no „celebritys“ on reddit that become famous by being on reddit. Also it has way more words and no restrictions on words. Of course there are many problems to reddit, but the algorithm only works by engaging wirh a subreddit. You decide your algorithm.

As a once-avid user of Twitter, I’m so surprised people are still on X. Elon aside, the user experience is sooooo bad now. It’s not fun or useful anymore.

The blue comment thing on tiktok is so bad for this too. The idea that instead of googling a word or idea that u don’t understand you should search within tiktok to see results that are either (…)

The way TikTok throws replies to comments out of order makes a lot of exchange so incoherent and hard to follw too.

This is all so insane. Nothing new, but good presentation. I’m a writer. Got my masters in journalism for it. Now I’m being told if I’m not podcasting or on a video app, I’m falling behind the times.

I fully agree, but a big reason why that is is because of scams, corn bots, and overall sketchy situations. Specifically On twitter, a ton of OF/corn bots spam a catchy catchphrase + attach a link that leads u god knows where. So instead of taking away the ability to post links entirely, they suppress posts that attach links since a majority of them are spam. Again, fully agree with you, but the main reason IS security based.

I'm a bit confused that people are saying platforms don't want us to read, but my feed always gives me slideshows that require me to read often, even on instagram. I think it's off interaction and preference
