I live in England and all colonoscopies are done awake unless there is a reason ! They only sedate you slightly to relax you ! 🦋

the anesthesia they give you is not sedation. one drug provides pain relief and the other is meant not for you to be ASLEEP but to forget what happened. some people require more than the standard dose

Iv had both endoscopy you get offered tablet or sedation which I took sedation first time took tablet and gagged all way through it . Colonoscopy I had to get topped up but wasn’t asleep

My Endo, I was sedated, but still slightly awake for them. I've had 2 now! And I have the red head gene,so I need a little more meds cuz I burn through it!

This was my experience too,im in the uk and they gave me the max they could but it still didnt work,i was literally screaming the place down💀they had to finish early bcs of the pain

😳 you have to ask what they’re using for sedation. I was completely asleep for my endoscopy and everyone I know who’s had one was asleep for their colonoscopy

I know BC and BS was pushing for colonoscopy without sleep sedation in Massachusetts, and drs and patients pushed back hard. Anesthesia is the most expensive part of the procedure.

My husband has crohns and has had so many colonoscopies and only once they kept him awake for one and he was so upset.

I would be talking to a lawyer. That is TRAUMATIC!! Why would they not stop the procedure and try to give you a little more sedation? I’d be tearing the place down and they couldn’t finish
