Bruh lol this is crazy. After coming to this realization, there’s literally no point in playing the streaming game anymore. I was only playing it to appease the labels in hopes of one day getting a record deal… now I see there’s actual power in ownership and independence. If I’m gonna be striving to promote I might as well make a real living while I’m doing it instead of getting paid nothing from streams to end up with a cosign & a loan in the end. The facts are, after you sign, they gonna want you to market yourself anyway, so when you figure that out on your own & get your “viral moment” it’s much more beneficial to just sell your music direct to fan & keep track of who your real fans are so you can build, instead of playing into streams where invest so much but you make no money & don’t even know who the people are that listen so how can you grow?
