I also fear for the ppl that are drinking 2-3 matcha lattes a day w/ all that sugar in the milk/sweetners.. yall gonna get diabetes & caffeine dependency like why are ppl drinking a 5g latte at 5pm??

At Marukyu Koyamaen said they don’t recommend ANY of the popular ones that people have been snapping up as lattes. They literally said it should be with JUST water. They had just one for lattes

What affordable brand would you recommend for lattes?

Yup! I totally agree. Why are these seasoned matcha lovers on Matchatok are heavy on the expensive matchas only to drink it as latte and sweetened drink for everyday. Like girls, in this economy???

I ZONT care if it loses some flavor in a latte. The higher quality still comes through even after milk added. It's yummy and depending on the matcha it's still WAY cheaper than buying at a cafe

i guess i get that. to be honest as someone who was using jade leaf barista matcha then using “cheaper” matcha powder and then using a “higher” brand matcha to make lattes. there is a difference to me

everytime I try a new matcha, I try to taste is plain first (I do try to buy higher quality to test out what I like but I've regularly bought culinary grade and its still good) but if its too bitter alone, I make it a latte, if its good alone, I drink alone with a tiny bit of sweetner

It wouldn’t be such a problem if people only bought how much they can actually use up. I see so much waste and overconsumption

i personally like to buy high quality culinary powders they always taste way better in lattes than the good ceremonial ones! the wakatake from maryukyu komean is really good for lattes & cooking

totally not unpopular opinions! you don’t need the highest grade blend to enjoy a matcha latte

In my country there are businesses that sell their own matcha that they personally go and source from Japan. This one store is run by a Japanese tea master and she knows what she’s doing :) very good matcha from that place. Look beyond the big names you see thrown around tiktok and see if you can source locally

You say that but the difference in taste in my matcha lattes depends a lot on the matcha I use. I’ve had cheaper lower quality matcha and then higher quality matcha both in lattes and there is a clear difference

Unfortunately using “cheap” matcha for lattes DOES make a difference in flavor. The milk might dilute the matcha some but you can still tell the difference for sure.
