@notconsolation: haven’t made one of these in a bit. not to say that there are no other good interpretations of the symbolism, but i feel the cannibalism used for love metaphor bs got so overused and exaggerated. #edit #bonesandall #timotheechalamet #taylorrussell #marenyearly #capcut #phobebridgers #symbolism #allegory
this and cannibalism as a metaphor for addiction > cannibalism as a metaphor for love

I think part of what’s so compelling about Bones and All is exactly that the cannibalism can be interpreted in so many different ways. I think it works as an allegory for intense painstaking love at times too, I think it works for addiction at other times. It speaks to so much to the messiness of life

This or cannibalism as metaphor for addiction or metaphor for making bad and impulsive decisions

I also feel like it could be a metaphor for being queer in the 80s. Many serial killers killed out of the anger of not being able to be who they truly were

And when u interpret it as a symbol for addiction n generational trauma it makes the end scene and the metaphor for love all the more powerful because its as if she turns it into something of her own

This is SUCH a profound perspective that I resonate with, but couldn’t articulate why…now it makes sense why I loved the movie so much 😂

its crazy how the movie portays this so differently giving it such a diffferent meaning while the book was almost completely about not being able to allow yourself to feel loved to be loved
