If you ever want to get a good laugh, just tell God your plans, He’ll always show you His. This morning, I planned to be at the gym by 7AM before heading to church. But around 4:30AM, I was abruptly awakened by a sharp, indescribable pain in my chest and back. It hurt so badly that I had to sit up and focus on taking slow, shallow breaths, because exhaling deeply was too painful. I put on my Apple Watch to check my heart rate, and it was elevated, climbing to 118 bpm. I am not the one to go to the doctor but with the elevation of the numbers and the pain that I had that’s when I started to grow concerned. I now realize my heart was responding to the intensity of the pain. My husband noticed I had sat up and asked if I was okay. I explained what was happening, and he immediately sat up, put his glasses on, and started monitoring my heart rate from my watch. After about 30 minutes of sitting up in pain, I told him I needed to go to the hospital. Since we had the girls, I drove myself while he took care of them and met me there later. On the drive to Baton Rouge General, I spoke to God. I told Him I didn’t have time for this,, there’s work to be done in the community. I turned on my worship music and worshiped the entire ride, breathing slowly and intentionally, trusting Him through it all. I kept glancing at my watch, still feeling the pain and watching how my heart was responding. When I arrived, I explained what was going on and lady at the desk stated, I was teaching her about being calm despite the potential danger I could be in. BUT GOD! The ER team immediately performed an EKG. The nurse wasn’t rushing or panicked, which gave me some peace. A bed opened up soon after, and they began taking my information and setting up an IV. It took 30–45 minutes and three different nurses to find a vein. Eventually, they got it. They performed two EKGs and a chest X-ray, all of which came back normal, thank God. In the meantime, they gave me medication to help with the pain. Let me back up a bit: I’ve had a lingering cough since February after a viral infection. It calmed down for a while, but never fully went away. I went to the doctor two months later and was prescribed antibiotics, but they didn’t help. More time passed, and I finally went back on July 17. A chest X-ray ruled out pneumonia, but the doctor still treated me for it. I’m currently still taking that medication. The physician at the ER believes the pain is from inflammation or soreness in my chest wall muscles. They also discovered that my white blood cell count is extremely high, which means my body is fighting off something, possibly an infection or inflammation. My prayer is that my lupus is not coming out of remission. I’m standing on faith, trusting and believing that whatever is going on will pass in the next few days. I know God to be a miracle worker and a healer, and that truth brings me comfort. I am now at home resting! Thank you in advance for your prayers. ❤️ #FaithOverFear #TrustGod #HealingInProgress #WalkingByFaith #foryou #SelfCare #fyp
