Been married 26 years now. We decided from jump for our arguments to be in private because we were those kids that experienced hearing our parents fight. Our kids hear our stories about them instead.

I didn't see it, but I knew it was happening. I just wish my husband felt he could talk with someone not in his family. and understand if the person he is talking with disagrees with him, its ok

I never saw my parents argue!! I never learned how to have effective communication let alone a disagreement. My mother was always submissive to my father.

This is how I was raised. I never saw them argue cuz it wasn’t our business! My momma told me oh we had disagreements but they weren’t in front of ya’ll.

Why do we think arguing is healthy? I will never talk to my boss better than I talk to my husband. You're not going to yell and cuss at your boss why do it to your spouse

even with divorce! me and ex don't argue around kids. there's still major problems. I don't want my kids getting married and when trouble hits they think "my parents raised us ok divorced" it sucks!

I have never seen my parents fight. It has taken a lot of work with my husband to understand that fighting is normal and it’s not the end of our marriage. 🥰 Thank you for bringing this out!

Well intentioned but distorts reality. Kids grow up believing every argument is an attack. My parents argued but I remember the reconciliation and forgiveness the most. Not a perfect marriage.
