Ngl this happened to me. I didn’t know I owed anything than all of a sudden a letter came in the mail that I owed them $30k, it was literally all interest. It was a summer 1099 job from 2013

It’s 7 years from the date you file if they don’t collect anything throughout the 7 years the catch is u have to file it’s not illegal not to pay it’s illegal not to file
