It's not about seeking social acceptance; it's about being taken seriously. In my corporate job, you rarely see white men with long hair. A shorter hairstyle is viewed as more professional.

It isn't about being accepted. It is about being allowed to work in those spaces and earn some money. Advocating that folks do whatever they want hairwise despite evidence it isn't advisable is wrong.
