location, gear & costs 👇🏼 I have seen this via ferrata on my feed for YEARS and have always wanted to try it. We both absolutely LOVE big exposure like this, and it’s so so cool that you can just go do this on any random day in Switzerland!! Before I go into the details, this is still a very dangerous hike, and it’s crucial that you come with proper gear and no fear of heights!! If you aren’t 100% comfortable doing this on your own, you can hire a guide to take you!! They will make sure you have all of the gear and get you through this safely. I cannot stress it enough that this shouldn’t be taken lightly!! WHERE? This via Ferrata starts in Mürren, Switzerland. We parked in lauterbrunnen, and took a cable car and a train to get to Mürren. (Then after the via we took one more cable car to get back to Mürren) This cost about 30 CHF total, or $37 USD. the trail is well marked from the center of town, and you can also find it on AllTrails PRICE: It cost $37 USD for all of the transportation, we paid 15 CHF ($19 USD) to park in lauterbrunnen, and we paid 14 CHF ($18 USD) to rent the via ferrata lanyards from the intersport in lauterbrunnen. You can also rent the entire setup for about 30 CHF ($38 USD). The via ferrata itself is free! GEAR: You’re going to need a harness, helmet, via ferrata lanyards, good grippy closed toed shoes, and gloves (optional, we went without, but some people really like them!). TIPS: • Watch the weather!!! Do not do this if there is any chance of rain in the forecast. The rebar gets SLIPPERY. • plan for a 3 hour trip on the hike (I think we did it in a little under 2) • be safe!!! I recommend finding a less exposed via ferrata to try before this to get the hang of it. Learning on the side of the cliff is not recommended!! What do you think! Scariest in the world?? (That’s what I kept reading online!!) have a scarier one?? We would LOVE to try it!! Would you do this?? W/ @Kayli King #switzerland #hikersofinstagram #viaferrata
