This is without a doubt the hardest part of living with ADHD for me. What wasn’t captured here was the part where my body/brain shut down. I reached a point where I couldn’t actually say anything at all, was overtaken by exhaustion and had to have a nap (which actually helped - I was back to my regular self afterwards). There is so much shame in overwhelm for me. I feel so humiliated when I can’t engage in a conversation “properly” and I want to push myself to just ‘try harder’. But when I look back at this video, it’s clear that I was having a really difficult time and trying to push myself further would not have been the answer (or even possible). So, to anyone else who experiences moments of extreme overwhelm like these too, it’s probably the time to actually listen to your body instead of trying to “power through”. ♥️
