@thecoloramber: Save these instructions for later! 💌 the best use for thrifted plates, & such a fun gift! I decided at the beginning of the year this would be my birthday gift to all my sisters & friends so they’d all have a special plate for their families’ special days! One of these is for my baby’s 2nd birthday today & the others are for my sisters-in-law and their families 💛 Instructions & tips! - use thrifted ceramic plates or dishes, but double check they are oven safe! Each of these cost me between $0.50 — $1! - pick up Folk Art Enamel Glass Paint — I got a few at my local Michael’s, but color options were limited. I also bought a set of 16 colors on Amazon! - clean the plate REALLY WELL & dry thoroughly! Rubbing alcohol would help to make sure the surface is prepped. - get creative! Keep your designs to the outer edge of your plate — the paint is non-toxic but not food safe! I added a small design to the center of one because I knew it would only be used once a year, but Folk Art brand advises against it for extended use -use a detail brush for fine lines! The paint can be washed off with a little bit of scrubbing before it’s oven cured, so you can correct mistakes 🥰 -rinse your brush, but try not to water down your paints too much! I did with my first try & it did not cure as well - air dry for at least an hour — do not skip this step! Take it from me 🥲 -be sure to put the plate in the oven during preheat, and leave it to cool completely after your timer / oven is off! I’ve noticed a huge difference here! -Folk Art says the paint is top-rack dishwasher safe, but I would gently hand wash & dry immediately for best results!
