There's an annoying trend among pilots where characters announce who they/others are and what they do. Sil mentioning Artie definitely falls into that.

I mean so many pilots are like that to be fair. In the Big bang theory's pilot Leonard and Sheldon are donating a swimmer sample ;) And Leonard makes a joke about Sheldon being a "semi pro"
