This makes me happy. Our finance manager made a racist comment right after we signed our paperwork and grossed us out. We were offered a lower rate with our CU the day after we signed so we refinanced

I always pay cash but if they say I get a better deal financing I’ll finance and pay it off on my first payment. Price should be the same no matter how you pay

💯 True. Indirect lender at a CU. we have 120 charge back. If the loan is paid of before than we will deduct that from the reserves of the next deal we get from a dealer.

What happens if they bought the rate down?

I bought a used truck and they wouldn't accept a certified check, wire etc. Only finance thru them. Literally wouldn't sell it to me without financing it.

Does the salesman lose any money because of this?

I have had success telling the dealer the rate from the credit union after the finance negotiation and they have beat the rate.

My dealer tells me the exact time and i refi 30 days after so they get to keep the money. Been doing it for years.

I work at a cell phone store and the same principal works with us anytime you sell a phone with a new line if the customer switches within 60 days or does not pay their bill, we get charged back

Bottom line, don’t believe the salesman. Don’t believe the guy in the finance office. Only believe what you read is written into your contract.

I have a 859 credit score. I wait till I’m in the finance office and they have everything done up. I tell them I want a better rate. If not I walk. 99 percent of time. The give it to me. I love it

Year ago I got like 12k in GM rebates if I got the loan through them. Interest rate was 9%. I paid off the loan as soon as the loan was set in the system. It was 5 days later 🤣🤣🤣🤣

You should start educating us on RV’s.

Question: why are dealerships allowed to manipulate the interest rate up to 2-3points? That seems very suspect to me. Just like theft. If I am approved for 6% I shouldn’t have to negotiate it.

What if you tell the dealer straight out that you got pre approved for “xyz” rate and ask if they will beat it and you use their financing. Is that a good move?

As I finance manager. Always say you will finance it at standard rates but you want a great deal in the car. They will gut the deal thinking they are making several thousand then pay it off.

I refinanced mine when the finance manager switched my rate to a much higher rate when I went to sign papers. I have an 840ish score. I got the deal for financing, but I got revenge when I refinanced.

Hell yeah! It’s like a little bonus knowing the dealer lost some money

I mean if the dealer didn’t jack up the points you were approved for, there wouldn’t be money to claw back or very likely you would find a better deal.
