I lowkey dislike how comfortable the term “rotting” has become in our society bc I think words have power. Rest however is GOOD and powerful.

My mom had a very firm rule for this. Especially in the summer. We could lay down and read a book, or think, or sleep, but for two hours, we were going to lay down silently so she could rest too. 🥰

The guilt around nonproductive time is so intense in this culture. Ever since Covid, I lay down almost every single day. I think it’s a culture you are right we are on the go and just draining ourselv

My husband & I started indulging in siesta since we visited Greece. Game changer. We feel more accomplished & less run down.

You can even see it in the term, “rotting” is done in subconscious protest bc we feel so deprived of rest. If socially accepted rest is available the need dwindles dramatically!

I loved my weekend! We were busy all day Saturday - I did take an hour nap between activities then Sunday church and after church, I rested in bed the rest of the and loved it! Felt great
