@thisworldtraveled: Located in the Pike National Forest near Sedalia, Colorado, the Devil’s Head Fire Lookout Trail offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and forests and is about an hour drive from Denver. 📍 Devil’s Head Fire Lookout Trail The trail just opened again recently and it is one of the few remaining active fire lookout towers in Colorado which is staffed by the forest service. Tips for Visiting: * 2.7 miles out & back moderately difficult trail * 940 ft elevation gain from the trailhead to the lookout tower * The tower sits at the top of a rocky outcrop at 9,748 feet offering panoramic views of the Rampart Range of the Rocky Mountains * Dogs are allowed on a leash * Parking & restrooms located at the trailhead * Access to the top of the fire lookout will be closed if there is lightening in the area * There are 143 steps to climb to reach the tower * Only 5 people are allowed in the tower lookout at a time * The top of the tower is only accessible from May to November * Rampart Range Road can have closures so check online before heading out * A 4WD vehicle would be recommended to drive to the trailhead Would you add this hike to your Colorado bucket list?
