The SR-71 was ENGINEERED to make wide turns because otherwise the soft fleshy human pilots would turn into MUSH

My favorite stat about the SR-71 is that it was designed in the 50s without the use of computers, but it’s still one of the most advanced aircraft on the planet to this day.

My 1995 Chevy half ton had about the same turn radius. Not quite the same top speed. 😂

my favorite blackbird stat is they wanted to put a gun on it but it didn't work because the aircraft was moving faster than the bullets it fired

My favourite fact is protocol for a missile lock is to just out run the missile. Also that it leaks fuel when on the ground because of the gaps it has to make room to expand when it heats up

Now imagine what the SR-72 will have to deal with at full speed Mach 8-9

Stopped listening when I heard curvature 🤯

Somehow we have footage at 125k ft with no curvature but at 84k ft there’s curvature??? Image how often you would have to dip the nose down at those speeds?

You CANNOT see the curvature of the Earth 🙄

So are the pilots constantly pushing the controls downward because of the earths curvature? 🛬

And there is no curvature

That’s not good because if you find yourself going into Ohio, the best thing to do is turn around as fast as possible

Perhaps it was designed never to turn around — Rather, simply orbit the planet. "Damn it, I missed our turn... that's fine, I'll just get it the next time around... it's just annoying"

I wonder if anybody still traveled that way. Like, if the government needed to get someone to london in an hour.

This plane looks huge but in real life, it’s small

To refuel during a flight, the tanker had to fly at its fastest while the SR-71 had to fly at its slowest.

One thing most people don’t get is that aeronautical engineering peaked during the Cold War because everyone was trying to be the most advanced in terms of war. After the Cold War, none of these marvels were created again, there’s only a few here and there, not as much as during the 50s to 70s
