My favorite stat about the SR-71 is that it was designed in the 50s without the use of computers, but it’s still one of the most advanced aircraft on the planet to this day.

My favourite fact is protocol for a missile lock is to just out run the missile. Also that it leaks fuel when on the ground because of the gaps it has to make room to expand when it heats up

Somehow we have footage at 125k ft with no curvature but at 84k ft there’s curvature??? Image how often you would have to dip the nose down at those speeds?

One thing most people don’t get is that aeronautical engineering peaked during the Cold War because everyone was trying to be the most advanced in terms of war. After the Cold War, none of these marvels were created again, there’s only a few here and there, not as much as during the 50s to 70s
