The Life of Malcolm-Jamal Warner 🕊️ Malcolm-Jamal Warner was born on August 18, 1970, in Jersey City, New Jersey. His mother, Pamela Warner, named him after Malcolm X and jazz great Ahmad Jamal. By age 9, Malcolm began taking acting classes and quickly found a love for performance and storytelling. He made his TV debut at age 12 on Matt Houston, and at 14, he landed the role of Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show. His performance made him a household name and earned him an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. He graduated from the Professional Children’s School in NYC in 1988 while still filming the show. At age 17, Malcolm made his directorial debut on The Cosby Show, becoming one of the youngest African-American TV directors. He went on to appear in A Different World and starred in Here and Now as a social worker mentoring youth. He later joined the hit series Malcolm & Eddie, which ran for four seasons on UPN. Warner expanded his career into music and film, releasing The Miles Long Mixtape in 2003 and appearing in Step Up, Reed Between the Lines, and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. He won a Grammy in 2015 for his collaboration on “Jesus Children” and took on dramatic roles in Suits, The Resident, and Ten Days in the Valley. He continued his musical journey with the 2020 release of Selfless with his band Miles Long. In 2023, Malcolm appeared in Accused and the reboot of The Wonder Years. In 2024, he was honored for 40 years in entertainment since The Cosby Show’s debut. Tragically, Malcolm-Jamal Warner passed away on July 20, 2025, in Costa Rica due to accidental drowning. He leaves behind a powerful legacy as an actor, director, musician, and advocate who inspired generations. 🎥 @notjusthistory_ #malcolmjamalwarner #thecosbyshow #cosbyshow #history #evolution #actor #musician #jazz
