man this is gonna be annoying to keep bringing up as alot of people just shortcut putting it into the command zone.

Check out this impractical and very expensive combo i thought of. Cast Apex Devastator holding priority then flash the dragon countering your Apex Devastator.
Thats about 8 Cascade triggers

cause it's worded as one entire ability and SBA's are only checked before or after so the entire thing has to resolve before a check happens.

What about Child of Alara? If I have that card as my commander and it gets sent to the graveyard, would SBA also apply? Allowing CoA to hit the graveyard to activate it’s ability

Not gonna lie, if someone takes my commander I instantly scoop, will not play if you literally take my decks engine, so this card feels like a unofficial win con

Necro :
slight nitpick, no hate, you said if you cast it from hand, but it triggers as long as it was cast in general. like from the grave with muldrotha will also work

soo if the commander dies after that where does it go? Your graveyard or the original owners?

Dr. Panda :
its also because people simplify the commander rule as "when your commander changes zones" but the actual rules don't include changing zone TO the battlefield

Andus :
I wish they would have made more distinct wording for the difference of “you can cast the spell RIGHT NOW ONLY” vs. “you can cast this spell for X time at its normal casting speed”

Eric Reyes :
so if you countered someone's Commander like that you couldn't play the commander, because it's a creature and it wouldn't gain flash

Matthew Reed :
if a commander is in a different zone such as the graveyard would i be able to let it be there for one check of SBA to then later move it to the command zone? or do i only have a choice the first time

You do NOT check state based actions as soon as a card resolves. Only afterwards when a player would gain priority. Minor distinction.

Bryson Simpson :
Wait since you are countering their commander means that it is there turn you can’t play a creature during someone else’s turn unless it has flash and this card does not get around timing rules
