mike white made a good call, I know we all love the woo woos but it didn't suit the season 3 theme at all. mike isn't afraid of change and he isn't gonna get the show stuck in any particular box like that

It’s a fantastic theme song, popular, but not pivotal. They could change the theme each season and the storytelling would remain strong. This composer thinks a bit much of himself I think.
