Why would your parents need to be in the room while your husband’s catheter is being changed? They couldn’t wait a few minutes for the nurse to finish?

Does she NOT know what changing a catheter entails?!?! It’s not a spectator sport

you can kind of just tell him to start that the wife was uncomfortable that he got a nurse and that nurses are required to do more than just watch monitors, it's kind of weird that she didn't have a conversation with her husband about when to have people over to visit him that seems kind of important, unless it's "normal" for the wife to just trample over him

I understand with the whole parents thing and the catheter but there is no reason the nurse has been telling her or her kids to leave the rooms. If the husband has a problem then he needs to say

The nurse is correct. Have some respect for the patient.

It‘s a nurse‘s job to advocate for her patient. In the hospital, we also ask visitors to wait outside.

They're both AH. It's not up to the nurse to decide when she or her children can be in the room. On the other hand, pretty sure hubby doesn't need an audience while getting a catheter removed

The parents were "worried sick" but couldn't find the time for weeks to visit?

Sounds like the nurse was advocating for her patient and doing her job. The nurse was standing up for her patient and respecting HIS wishes.

the nurse is right. Barging into the room like that is certainly an invasion of privacy. The nurse IS doing her job, with her patient's well being, being a priority.

Definitely overstepping. She should ask her husband about parameters for visits, ask him to speak to her directly if he is unhappy and insist on a different nurse

We all deserve privacy, and having had a catheter before for about 3 weeks, I can confirm there is always vulnerability, even when it's set, let alone during insertion. 1/2
