thanks, adding that the personality disorders arose from a period of time when personality patterns were being noticed and described in the context of psychoanalytic psychotherapy, which could have been daily sessions, not an epidemiological assessment of the spectrum of the general public.

While not as elevated in close relatives of schizophrenics as schizotypal, it is nonetheless elevated. I wouldn’t get carried away on treating the asociality as “entirely separate”.

I do perceive there is suffering at the core also here, so dismissing it as ok would be too easy. I know of someone who went into a psychosis after self-isolating like that for years.

As a child with a parent with this disorder, it is absolutely damaging. I will never have a relationship with my parent and they were not able to care for me as a kid because they couldn't anticipate my needs. But they will never get help because they think they are totally fine.

I prefer to isolate for many many many different reasons. it's to the point where my husband will purposely leave the house with my daughter so I can fully be alone. Outings are rare difficult for me.
