Once the hobbit became 3 movies it was done for. The book isn’t that long, they had to invent stuff to fill time

ROP feels like people who genuinely love the story playing with filling in gaps of unwritten lore and exploring related themes. It’s a creative endeavor. The Hobbit movies were just a cash grab.

Also worth noting: ROP has a direct relationship with the Tolkien Estate (the people tasked with protecting Tolkien’s legacy). Peter Jackson & Co. did not have that.

I loved Rings of Power, I don't care what anyone says! Also, I enjoyed the first Hobbit film but the second and especially the third one were way too much for me.

I liked the hobbit trilogy well enough but it was a step down from the LOTR trilogy. The main problem with it is that they took what should've been 1 movie and stretched it into 3. That and the CGI.

I feel that ROP is one of the most thematically rich adaptations so far. It has some big errors in execution, but it makes me more interested in middle-earth as a whole than any of PJ’s films.

I’m still confused by the introduction of Gandalf this early in the Rings of Power, but I loved the the introduction of Tom and their interactions. But it’s fan fiction basically.

My main frustration is… LotR books could have been more movies ( arguably ) and I understand why they weren’t. Peter Jackson struggled to have the movies made. But The Hobbit most definitely did NOT need 3 movies 🤣. I do like some scenes in The Hobbit but it’s not my fave. And I love the money it brought to New Zealand

I wish the movie executives would have let The Hobbit movies be their own thing as the first director had planned, but instead they pushed in Jackson at the last minute with orders to make LotR 2.

one of the things that some criticize is Galadriel's character being so different to LOTR. but to me that only shows her Journey and how she becomes the wise one we know. it just makes sense

My beefs were 1) it should have only been 1 movie. Even if it was LOTR long. Fine. 3 movies was too many. And 2) it was too dark. It’s not the same story as LOTR, the Hobbit is whimsical.

1. I found the 'feel' of Hobbit trilogy to be a bit too silly, but I enjoyed some of it. 2. I thought things like the White Council were included bc that was the only opportunity to get them on screen
