Neuroscientist here. Those pixels in the can are not white. Compare them to the white border of the picture. There is enough shading to bring red. I don’t disagree regarding prior expectations and mental function though, in general

Saying that there are no red pixels on the screen is not entirely true. It is definitely getting scaled while viewed, creating various greys and shades of cyan on edges, turning on the red subpixels

One thing that’s not clear here to me: do we see red because we expect red from these red objects, or will we see red even if the objects aren’t traditionally red?

I have the same thing with my president. Zoomed out I see a president but zooming in I start to see a black hole that sucks all the light out. Strange thing is this is the first time see this…

black white and cyan. without that, there is no red, or any of the other colors. you can technically do this with any of the subtractive primaries but not the additive

I remember this. If you change the cyan to magenta? I think, it’s no longer red I think it turns yellow. So it’s not the brain assuming the color of a coke can. It’s something with the colors
