‼️NOT A NOSE JOB‼️ A septoplasty is a surgery to correct a deviated septum. Additionally, I had a broken nose so that was fixed during the procedure too. Disclaimer: septoplastys are NOT designed to change your nose’s appearance in any way - it is solely intended for functional purposes, not cosmetic. However, sometimes your nose can look a little different after the process due to the surgical correction of the deviated septum which may involve straightening the underlying bone and cartilage. In my case, it does but I still look like me and I’m hoping I get to finally breathe out of BOTH nostrils for the first time🙏 It’s currently still swollen and stuffy, but I just had my stitches removed & recieved a shot to speed up the healing process and reduce swelling! According to my doctor, 3 quarters of recovery takes about a month and a half. Full recovery takes about a year and a half. Once swelling goes down, the tip of my nose probably won’t appear as round. I felt it was important for me to clarify this before anyone gets the wrong idea. Mine WAS covered by insurance but I did have to pay my surgeon $500 out of pocket in total for the copays. Really good doctor and I’m happy I booked the surgery with him! If you’re thinking of getting a septoplasty, be aware that the recovery process during the first week is pretty brutal and you WILL be bed ridden (at least in my case). I was struggling with high blood pressure so I was bleeding for a longer period than I should’ve.
