Interesting that the melody is exactly the same as the original--only the tonal center is shifted to the relative minor. I bet you could do this with a lot of Appalachian/Celtic fiddle/banjo tunes.

“My last light in the far west.” That’s what it makes me think of. A lonely cowboy sitting out on his porch with a can in hand full of black coffee as he watches the sun fall to rest after a long day of wrangling horses and keeping track of cattle, a small boy of his own that has fallen asleep to the sound of the banjo he grew around and now dreaming of the day he’ll be just like his daddy. A true cowboy. A man. Now as the sun goes down and the skies go black, this cowboy retires to his own bedroom..sleeping in a bed with a cold side beside him where SHE used to rest. The love of his life..but now he had a little boy. His last light in the far west.

The Dead South did a dark version like this but I honestly like your playing a lot more. I like some of the other suggestions but you could keep most the OG lyrics and call it Took My Sunshine
