I think a big issue is that they don't advertise fresh ideas. I feel like I only hear about remakes and never even know what's coming out besides that

We never even hear about “original ideas” movies until they hit streaming or win an award. They don’t bother marketing them any more. Back in the day, they created must-see hype around them.

it's about saturation too, though. one healthy item in a doughnut shop won't sell, but healthy items do in places that offer wide variety. there is a glut of movies that don't focus on plot, so we are accustomed to consuming it because it's there in abundance

Article is disingenuous. There's like 80% fewer films being made than 10-20 years ago. Next, trucks are a status symbol like a Prada bag. Finally, 'healthy option' meant leaner burgers not salads

>makes new ideas >doesn't advertise >"see? new ideas don't pay off" >remake/sequal/live action adaptation.

Tired of all the woke, race, agendas galore, etc BS constantly being shoved down our throat. I'll pirate 100% of the time and make sure outside of cost for internet, they don't see a dime from me.

Auto companies advertise large trucks more because they don't have to follow gas standards due to classification as light trucks. Car companies make more profit on them.

The death of the dvd market doesn’t help. Movies used to have a chance to grow AND make money after theatres. Now they just fade away on one of the dozen or so streaming platforms

Also true of “why didn’t they ever teach us life skills like doing taxes in school?”. Mine had an optional personal finance course - not a soul signed up

"they prefer big cars for whatever reason" is the exact problem in this analysis, there is a reason they do: years of "marketing", discours etc. telling them they should. Critic of Individual 1/2

I agree we need to take responsibility but saying that corporations aren’t constantly using their influence to MANIPULATE the masses into making these type of decisions is not realistic

They are not original ideas, and the movies are not good. They claim to be trying but they are not.

You're forgetting the brainwashing people are subjected to. Constant advertising, algorithmic political bubbles etc etc ... people aren't entirely to blame. We need better education to equip people with better critical thinking skills.

I see this in gaming; 99% of gamers detest micro-transactions becoming the focus of gaming companies, yet they continue to pump them out cuz people DO buy them. 58% of PC revenue was microtransactions

Yeah no, American car manufacturers have intentionally been marketing big gas guzzling trucks, ever since they’ve been held to a different emission standard for being “work vehicles”

It’s not free will, it’s infrastructure. People don’t walk because we built cities for cars and neighborhoods without sidewalks. People don’t drive small cars because they’re afraid of the big cars.

it ALL comes down to Capitalism and the Least Common Denominator. The truth is that the Minecraft movie should have been BETTER. the Big Mac should be HEALTHIER. and the F150 should be SMALLER.

The analogy doesn’t work. The “good” movies simply don’t get the advertising and marketing budgets of the slop.
