@Cecelia: The Mona Lisa’s significance is often overlooked. This is why before going to museum’s it’s best to study what you’re looking at. The Mona Lisa was crafted very intricately with a very special use of structure to convey different environments and mixed emotions when looking at it. Leonardo da Vinci, known for strategic ways of painting and deep meaning behind just making it look good. He made Mona Lisa able to be seen as ‘looking at you’ from any point of direction you stood in the museum. The awkward levels of background behind her and shadows were all meticulously chosen so that when focusing on the shadows, she is smiling, when looking st the light parts of her face, she’s not. This is also the logic behind why she’s smiling at you but also not, creating an eerie feeling Art isn’t about how big something is or if plainly looks good or detailed.

As a Da Vinci nerd, I hate when people say “I don’t get the hype around Mona Lisa, how is it his best work?” Like it’s not😭 it’s famous from the history. I definitely don’t think it’s his best work but the story behind it is so interesting
