This is day 3* of our Chicago trip, and on this day we visited the Field Museum of Natural History (@Field Museum). This is one of the largest natural history museums in the world, and one I have looked forward to seeing all of my life. Especially as an artist who has drawn animals since as long as I can remember, and as someone who has always collected bits of the natural world and has committed to documenting them in my sketchbooks, this was the place to be. We first started with the dinosaurs, where I sketched a cousin of the t-rex, a stegosaurus, and the skull of the famous SUE the T. rex. After getting a medical alert from Rico and taking a breather, we then moved onto some of the animals, where I sketched the very unusual spotted linsang, an ermine, the vibrantly feathered long-tailed broadbill, the skeleton of the now extinct and very large Irish deer, the gorgeous chestnut-mandibled toucan, the elegant feathers of Lady Ambherst's pheasant, the skull of a lion of Tsvao, a Burchell's zebra, and a scarlet tanager. This was only a sliver of an incredible collection held at the museum, and I hope to be able to return again someday soon.   *Technically, this was day 5. I took two days off of the trip trying to recover from a very severe pain flare, and I wanted to be sure I could be as present as possible for the Field Museum. I still very much needed to rely on my mobility aid (shoutout to @Rollz for my wonderful Rollz Motion Performance rollator, which conveniently transformed into a transport chair [wheelchair]), and my amazing partner who always advocates for me.   Come back for more as we finish out our Chicago adventures.   #FieldMuseumOfNaturalHistory #FieldMuseum #NaturalHistoryMuseum #MuseumOfNaturalHistory #MuseumVisit #Chicago #VisitChicago #Dinosaurs #Animals #FineArt #Sketchbook #Watercolor #UrbanSketch #Art #Moleskine #MoleskineSketchbook #Pentel #SailorFudeDeMannen #CassArt #MuseumDay #Disabled #Disability #ChronicIllness #ServiceDog #TaskTrainedServiceDog #MedicalAlertServiceDog #ServiceDogsOfTikTok #ServiceDogTikTok #ServiceDogHandler #ServiceDogHandlersOfTikTok #KeepRollzing @Moleskine @Cass Art @Pentel @SAILOR PEN Thailand
