@annieknowsanimals: a lot of the behavior people think is “dominance” in #dogs is actually anxiety! should this be my next series? 🤔 #anxiousdog #reactivedog #DogTraining #dogbehavior #dogbodylanguage
I’ve noticed that many dog owners don’t read their dog’s body language at all. This is especially scary and frustrating as a runner, when I often know what a dog is going to do before its owner.

it reminds me of people who think kids are being manipulative or behaving badly just to be bad or whatever, like, no they're trying to communicate with you

How about when the dog is resource guarding? I can pick up my dog and move him away in that situation but others will get bit if they try to pick him up when he’s doing that. Why special treatment for me?

Please do more dog vids. More in depth/how you work with diff issues. There r too many "quick-fix"dog "trainers".Being able to share ur content w/ well-meaning ppl is worth a lot.

What does it mean when my dog hides around corners and then bites me when I walk past him? I feel like he’s trying to herd me like he does the cows?? He doesn’t look angry but idk…

I work in a vet clinic, and every time I see these behaviors, I step back and take a moment to let the dog regroup. More often than not, this at least allows us to to what we need. If not, we offer

I've always found maintaining dominance with dogs is important, but that isn't about punishment so much as letting them know you're not afraid of them and you're not going to let them boss you around (pulling on the leash, jumping up on you for pets, etc). It's confidence, not punishment or anger

Apart from species specific body language are there any differences in positive reward training between carnivores and herbivores?

yes more! My dog is a love bug, but when he gets into his bed at night, he acts aggressive if you tried to pet him. We have no idea what brought this on.

Poor little pup. To get my dog anywhere I want him I just call him or go away and call him he will come running. We trained him to come to us but he also just loves to be near us. Couldn’t imagine

I agree with your reasoning. It is clear the dog in this video is not feeling good.

do you know about Avians? or just mammals? I have a cockatiel that will be just sitting, puffed up on his cage, then suddenly scream and fly around my room for about 2 mins, I have no idea why

My dog hates being grabbed or pushed, he literally has a cue to scooch over and will go anywhere if you have a kibble in hand. Seems insane to me ppl just manhandle them

90% of the general population shouldn’t be allowed to own animals. They choose to remain in willful ignorance and their pets suffer because of it.

not knowing any backstory I'd just assume it's some sort of resorce guarding of the bed/space and quickly scoot them off and let them have a treat
