@virginradiotoronto: Help settle this debate. Do you have to feed the photographer at your wedding? 🤨🍽️ @Daryn Jones @Deepa Prashad @Leah Abrahams #Wedding #photographer #debate
It’s cultural- she seems South Asian. In a lot of cultures feed everyone who turns up at the wedding.

Deepa comes from a culture that puts a lot of importance on feeding people. I fed all the “Workers” at my event. Event planner, photographer, DJ. Everyone ate!

Wedding photographer here 🙋🏻♀️it’s built into my contract that I get a meal and if I don’t, I get an hour to leave to find a suitable meal.

You absolutely need to feed us on a wedding day. Would you work a 8-10 hour shift with no breaks or food? If you want me to pack a lunch then I’m off the clock for those hours.

Genuine question to the vendors, so you put into your contract that you are expected to be fed during, so do you lower your price for the meal? Or is it same price but you also get a meal?

If you aren’t providing a structured lunch break where they can leave and go get food/eat, you need to provide. Expecting someone to work dinner hour without food is GROSS

the tone these people are using are in line with modern day slavery. like you dont have the capacity to pay for the plates for your wedding vendors? they are humans they need breaks and to eat

Maybe it’s a cultural thing, but we feed everyone.

I think people of colour tend to feed everyone… others only do it if it’s written in the contract 🙄

Maybe its a cultural thing bc you should be serving your vendors, it doesnt need to be in a contract. Its just common courtesy.

it's a guyanese culture thing... if we have people at our house doing any type of work, we're feeding them lol

This must be cultural but as South Asian we’re feeding everyone. It’s not really even something to think about we’d feel uncomfortable celebrating while someone is standing by.

I'm Mexican and I would feed my photographer, waiter, etc. They are humans, they are working, you can just order pizza or something but feed them

Yes, you should feed them, unless you want to give them a break to go, like, pick up McDonald’s

As a photographer, if you’re not feeding me, then I’m leaving your wedding for an hour to grab McDonald’s. But feeding me is in my contract, as it is with every photographer I’ve ever met.

The idea of having someone eat a packed lunch at my wedding feels tacky, that's just me.

I think it’s cultural - I’d expect to provide food for them. Should they order a pizza to the venue ?

It’s not like you can leave to go get food. You can’t leave you get fed for free.
