SYMMETRY THIS … SYMMETRY THAT 🤢 what’s the point of symmetry if the results require shaving off half your brow 🤔 Our faces are naturally asymmetrical so trying to achieve perfectly symmetrical brows doesn’t always make sense ‼️‼️ If we were to split this clients face in half perfectly and draw a symmetrical shape on the other side, the new shape will be: ❌ HIGH MAINTENANCE: the new shape ignores her natural hair growth + half of the new brow will be tattooed on BARE SKIN. Meaning the new tattooed shape will be artificially created with no real hair to blend into it. Any hair we remove to create a new shape, the client will ALWAYS have to remove because the hair will continue to grow. ❌ VERY PERMANENT: When we tattoo on BARE SKIN or areas that don’t grow hair, we have to go darker in those specific areas. WHY? Because we now need to create the illusion that the new shape is a part of the brow. Otherwise, areas that have more hair will look darker than areas with no hair. ❌ NEGLECTS FACIAL BALANCE: usually when one brow naturally grows higher, that side of the face is higher, eye is higher, etc. Now with this new “symmetric shape” one side will appear more lifted than the other. Our brow shapes should be proportional to the distance between our brows to our eyelids! The goal should always be: ✅ IDENTICAL SHAPES: the brow shapes should always be the same in length and same in width ✅ KEEPING THE HAIR: the mapped brow shape should follow the clients natural hair flow.. we should try to stay away from changing the natural brow too much KNOW YOUR CLIENT‼️‼️ Some clients are more willing to keep more high maintenance shapes whereas others are not. There is no one solution for all so knowing how to draw shapes and taking the time to learn what the client is comfortable with is KEY. Sometimes I’ll map them closer to symmetry or map closer to the natural hairs… it really all depends on how the client consultation goes. 10 times out of 10, clients will tell you what they want. But knowing how to make educated and professional decisions is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY as the brow artist 🙏🏼♥️ What would you do?
