i was thinking that it would be so much better if ellie said dad to joel but that’s the point, their relationship wasn’t over it wasn’t complete it was ruined by the cycle of hate that joel started because of his love for ellie, the story is about regret and how you CANT go back you CANT say what you wanted to you just have to live with what has happened and it’ll never be the same
