@pbsnews: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth called members of the media "hoaxters" Monday after he was asked about reports that he shared details about a March military operation in a second Signal group chat. "They take anonymous sources from disgruntled former employees and then they try to slash and burn people and ruin their reputations," Hegseth said during the White House Easter egg roll event. "Not going to work with me because we're changing the Defense Department ... and anonymous smears from disgruntled former employees on old news doesn't matter." Hegseth created the Signal chat, which included his wife and brother, and shared sensitive information about a U.S. military airstrike against Houthi militants in Yemen, The New York Times reported Sunday. This is reportedly the second Signal chat where Hegseth shared details about military attack plans in Yemen. Last month, Jeffrey Goldberg, editor-in-chief of The Atlantic and moderator of Washington Week, was accidentally added to a Signal group chat with senior Trump administration officials where they discussed launching the strikes against Houthis in Yemen. The two chats reportedly happened around the same time with Hegseth sharing similar details about the Yemen strike in both. Hegseth is now facing growing calls to resign, but President Donald Trump defended his defense secretary on Monday, saying, "Pete's doing a great job." #news #breakingnews
