The BBL bill got passed. Now what? • This is terrifying. & there's prep we can do, and responses we can have, but we can't do it alone. Here's some of the things my community is doing on the micro level: 1) Schedule appts while you can, if you can. Prompt each other to. Offices OR free clinics! Virtual appts or subscriptions service at low cost! Validate each other's symptoms and encourage each other to get care. 2) Have a buddy system at appts! Ask someone to join you, and show up for others at their appts. Be present in the rooms during check ups, treatments, procedures. Demand support be allowed. If they say no, have the support person advocate for you. If the procedure can't have an extra person in the room, roll up with support in the waiting room. (I'm speaking from experience!). Be a VISUAL example of advocacy and community. 3) Have routine check-ins & understandings about each other health needs, issues, accessibility needs, symptoms. This could be daily, weekly, monthly. Take inventory of what folks resources & capacities are. Your need could be met by someone else's, and vise versa. 4) Without the systems, what will we do? What did ancestors do? The best they could with what they had, holistically. Food, herbs, exercise, breathing exercises, steam baths, homemade pain creams, etc. Local community gardens often have people who are herbalists or hold this knowledge. Local mutual aid groups where some professionals volunteer. Local “wellness days” offered by wellness centers. Not supporting

Food, herbs, exercise, breathing exercises, steam baths, homemade pain creams, etc. Local community gardens often have people who are herbalists or hold this knowledge. Local mutual aid groups where some professionals volunteer. Local “wellness days” offered by wellness centers. Not supporting "pseudo-science cures", but this is sometimes the only option when folks don't have access to care. And this going to be millions of people. 5) Figure out what knowledge you do have and share with each other. Who's best at cooking, understanding food/herbs? Who's got knowledge on physical activity & wellness? Who's got disposable income? Who's got the most extra time? Who's got space to help folks recover for things? • The only way through this is through it together.
