@grangersmith: Ready or Not . Matthew 24:44 - “Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” Waiting on Jesus isn’t passive. It’s not sitting on a roof with a sign or doom-scrolling the headlines. And it’s not just being a decent person who pays their taxes and smiles at the grocery story clerk. Anyone can do that. Christian waiting is cross-shaped. It’s the quiet, faithful grind of a life that says: He’s worth it. It’s forgiving, because “God in Christ forgave you” (Ephesians 4:32). It’s serving, because “the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve” (Mark 10:45). It’s loving enemies, because “while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). It’s watching and working with a heart anchored in grace—not guilt. Paul said, “Make the best use of the time, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:16). You don’t know when He’s coming—but you know He is. So yeah, show up to work. Love your family. Serve your church. Share the gospel with a neighbor. And don’t do it to earn status with God, instead do it as a result of being someone loved by Him- ransomed by precious blood and now living for the One who bled. Be the servant not just watching the door, but working at the table. Because blessed is the servant He finds mid-faithfulness. Ready or not… here He comes.
