Way softer toward Dina in the series. In the game, they brutally knock Tommy out with a bottle and kick Ellie in the head. But on the show, they just drug Dina instead. The showrunners probably made that Dina-for-Tommy swap because of another major difference: There’s no zombie attack on Jackson in the game. But in the show, Abby accidentally unleashes a horde on the city giving the series an early action moment. And since Tommy isn’t out on patrol with Joel this time, he’s around to help defend Jackson. Also, notice how Abby’s crew seems a little more hesitant, a little queasier, while she tortures Joel in the show? That might be on purpose maybe the creators are trying to soften these characters a bit after how much hate they got from fans when the game first dropped. Here’s another big difference between the game and the show, In the game, Tommy is just as obsessed with avenging Joel as Ellie is even more obsessed. But the show is hinting at a different dynamic. First, Tommy isn’t there to witness Joel’s murder like he is in the game. Second, he’s got way more to lose this time in the series, Tommy has a wife and a kid on the way. (In the game, he’s married but has no children.)
