Well, I guess that I will be in the minority here. Use of ChatGPT for writing assignments is causing continued ignorance in students. I have had students copy the the assignment instructions into ChatGPT, then copy the results into their submission. In one case the student submission was a summary of the instructions! Didn’t even proofread it. For technical knowledge this is a terrible situation and I feel bad for those who will suffer in the future. Yes, there will be students that may excel with it, but let’s accept that most won’t use to expand their minds. Cat, this is not something new. When I was in high school and college there were Cliff Notes. I just hope my doctor didn’t use AI to get pass the exams in medical school.

As someone who recently got out of high school I can’t imagine being in school right now with ai, most kids will use it to cut corners and miss the fact that it can be an incredible tool for learning
