LSU agriculture center did that study. Does absolutely nothing except kill the crawfish. You’re putting a fresh water crawfish in salt. But since you’ve been doing it all your life keep on doing you. I don’t waste salt anymore.

Purging them is NOT soaking them in salt water. Purging them is having them in running water for a period of time.

same thing with catfish . Catch a catfish and put it in your bath tub over night . look at the dirt in the tub in the morning .
