@sleepfullbaby: 😩 If you're a parent of a baby - I can just say the dreaded 20-30 minute nap, and you already know the implications of that. But often, we get into a panic of thinking "what do I do when they wake up?!" Firstly, you’re not alone—and it doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong. Remember - our job is to offer the opportunity for sleep and a pro-sleep environment. Our baby's job is to...sleep! We don't control whether they do or for how long. When this happens, we have 3 options for how to handle it: 1️⃣ Rush in to "save" the nap: This might look like helping your baby back to sleep in the crib, holding them for the rest of the nap, or wearing them in a carrier. It can preserve overall nap length (especially if they're overtired), but may become a regular habit if used for every single nap. I recommend this for babies under 6 months. 2️⃣ Try a 'crib hour': If they’re not crying, leave them in the crib for up to 60 minutes from when they first fell asleep (for a total of a 1-hr nap). Best case? They fall back asleep. Worst case? They’re still resting in a calm, dark environment—which helps build the skill of being content in the crib and can lead to longer naps over time. I recommend this for babies over 6 months. 3️⃣ Get them up and reset: Call it a short nap and shift focus to the next one. This might be your best move if your baby’s really fussy or you’re feeling frustrated. Rest assured—many babies get better at naps with time, consistency, and a flexible mindset. ✨ There’s no “perfect” choice—just the one that works best for your baby and for you in that moment. ✅ Save this for the next short nap panic moment! 👇 And tell me below—which of these 3 do YOU usually go with, and how is it working for you?
