I was diagnosed as an adult bc my Chinese immigrant dad refused to get me evaluated as a minor. When I told him I was diagnosed he said “you’re only diagnosed bc you went looking for it” like HUH?😭🤣

You are right. They are doing this so that it will be more of a stigma and less kids will get tested. Then they can say they lowered the rate for autism.

My parents didn’t believe I need glasses. Walked around since the 6th grade with a -3 prescription and blamed that I watched the tv too close

I got diagnosed later as many women do, but I guess I'm rarity that when I told my mom I'm pretty sure I got it from her she laughed and said probably. she says my baby gonna be ADHD like his mama lol

As an African it’s this! Because in our culture you’re either crazy or not. However I want to add that it was also racial disparities within the mental health industry as well.
