I loved surgery! Private practice vet so no one talking down to me, vibing with your bestie OR nurse, and able to make an immediate QOL improvements. Frenchie nose jobs were the best.

I've heard the psych/surgery dichotomy is very common. they're the most invasive specialties that rely heavily on skill and not just knowledge

I know surgeons who have gone back and did psych residency, I don't know of any psychiatrist who went back did a surgery residency

I love being married to an ortho as a psychiatrist. We once presented collaborative research at the APA. It was fun to watch him explain personality traits in total knee replacement outcomes.
