As a wife of a garbage man …. Please put your batteries on top of your garbage cans so that they can take them without putting their lives in danger …. Their trucks can catch on fire

FYI, this is also why you’re not allowed to check anything with a lithium battery in checked luggage on a plane. They can cause a fire in the cargo hold. FAs are trained to fight fires but we can’t

I operate a recycling facility in Portland Oregon and this happens quite often. We average 9 battery fires a year, batteries are “No Bueno”

Lithium Ion batteries are USUALLY your RECHARGEABLE ones. Sometimes the rechargeable are nickle metal hydride (NiMH somewhere on the battery)
